The Greatest Sales Conversation Ever Part 1

Kingdom Mindsets to Grow Your Sales

A few years ago I received a deep revelation about this topic from the Lord and I’m ready to share it. My heart is to take entrepreneurs from a place of pressure to understanding how to operate from God and dig into our God-given gifts in a way that represents our assignment as we operate from a place of authenticity using our unique C.O.D.E.S.

We use these C.O.D.E.S. to empower our clients to take a deep-dive assessment in order to take their business to the next level which looks different for each entrepreneur. So whatever your next level is, understand we all have our unique goals and our unique way of cultivating generational wealth.

Years ago, God gave me a revelation from the story of the Samaritan woman at the well. He showed me how Jesus spoke to her was related to sales in my business. It blew me away!

If you’re serious about being that generational change agent who changes the trajectory of your family’s future by creating an overflow of wealth to pass down to your children’s children and to the communities that you have been called to impact, grab your notepad and let’s get into it.

When we come to this scene with the Samaritan woman at the well, Jesus is getting ready to return to Galilee. On his way, he became weary and stopped in Samaria to rest. As he was sitting by the well, a Samaritan woman came to draw some water. As she approached the well Jesus said, “Please give me a drink.”

She is flabbergasted because Jews don’t talk to Samaritans. She’s like, “You are a Jew and I’m a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?”

Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and whom you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”

She replied, “But sir, you don’t have a rope or a bucket. And this well is very deep. Where would you get this living water? And besides, do you think you’re greater than our ancestor Jacob who gave us this well? How can you offer better water than he and his sons and his animals enjoyed?”

Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”

As we tap into the mindset of Christ as it relates to sales, really dig in because I want you to not be afraid to make a sale, okay?

KINGDOM MINDSET #1: OVERCOMING THE LAW OF CONFORMITY

The first mindset I want you to embrace is overcoming the law of conformity. In this story, Jesus went past Jewish laws to meet the Samaritan woman where she was. This is why she’s questioning “What are you doing here and why are you talking to me? I’m a Samaritan and you are a Jew. Why are you asking me for a drink?”

If we want to tap into that next level and meet our prospects where they are, we have to understand who we are trying to reach. Jesus knew who he was trying to reach, and was willing to overcome the law of conformity.

He knew what his mission was and he was willing to break out of the conforms of what the law said was acceptable to really tap into what he knew to be true and in alignment with his assignment because he was only in this for an audience of ONE.

The first mindset we have to embrace is that whatever the laws and rules are around sales and what they say I can and can’t do, and who they say I can and can’t talk to, I’m not going to take my instruction from that. I’m taking my instructions from walking in the commandments of the Lord and being true to the assignment.

KINGDOM MINDSET #2: YOU ARE A GIFT AND WHAT YOU POSSESS IS A GIFT

The second mindset is understanding that you are a gift and what you possess is a gift. When you understand that at a deep level, it gives you God-confidence to have a conversation with your ideal client at a deeper level to help them see what they can’t see.

In John 4:10, Jesus said, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, then you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”

Jesus was able to tap into a level of discernment to understand what she needed. He knew who he was and the gift he had to offer.

When you know what you have to offer is truly a gift, it’s easy to respond to a person’s needs. But if you don’t understand who you are, you’re trying to be all things to all people by conforming.

Don’t do it!

Be confident in who you are and what you have in your hand, knowing that it is truly a gift. In fact, it’s a gift from God that will bring an eternal blessing that can’t come from anywhere else but you, because you’ve been anointed to deliver that type of “water” to your people.

Before embracing any sales conversation, be rooted in your identity and who you are.

This has been a mindset I’ve had to learn to cultivate over the years. Coming to the understanding that what I have in my hand, it’s not just a product, it’s not just a service, it’s not just an offer–it truly is a gift. It’s a gift that solves a problem my people have been up at night praying about.

I literally have the answer on the inside of me.

When you have true revelation and understanding that you have the answer your people are seeking, having that sales conversation with your ideal client means you are sharing something you already possess – a God-given gift.

KINGDOM MINDSET #3: HAVE A DEEP CONVICTION

Mindset #3 is having a deep conviction. Jesus had a deep conviction that he was the solution and he had the answer to what she really wanted and needed.

John 4:10 says, “If you would ask me, I would give you living water.”

That’s some deep conviction right there!

Having deep conviction means not shying down on this {sales} conversation. I’m not going to step into your story of why this won’t work for you – whatever your reasons, excuses, or objections are because I know what I have IS the solution to your problem. Period!

One of the things about being a strong salesperson is not stepping into their story.

We’ve got to disrupt their story.

Learn more about how to disrupt their story in Episode 10 of The Gifted Entrepreneur Show.

KINGDOM MINDSET #4: OVERCOMING OBJECTIONS

Kingdom Mindset #4 is coming into a mindset of overcoming objections. This is the “Who do you think you are?” mindset.

You’ve got to overcome those “Who do you think you are?” mindsets just like Jesus did. In John 4:11, the Samaritan woman asked Jesus, “Do you think you’re greater than our ancestor Jacob who gave us this well?”

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

You’ve got to have that type of conviction on the inside of you.

You have to be so deeply convicted of the transformation that your product or service brings, that it doesn’t matter if they question who you are. Your answer is:

“I know who I am, and I know who sent me! I know what I have in my hand truly is a gift.”

KINGDOM MINDSET #5: NOT BEING EQUIPPED

The final Kingdom Mindset {for this blog post} is the mindset of not being equipped.

You’ve got to overcome the mindset of feeling like you’re not equipped. The Samaritan woman told Jesus, “Sir, you don’t even have a rope and a bucket.”

She probably thought, “So you’re over here making all these promises and you don’t even have a rope and a bucket.”

This cracks me up!

Not only was she questioning him earlier by asking, “Who do you think you are?” but then she’s like, “Why are you trying to make me an offer? You’re not equipped; you ain’t even got a rope and a bucket.”

Jesus understood what he had to offer was different from what other people were offering. The water he drew out didn’t require the same equipment that she was used to seeing others use.

Listen, there is so much to unpack in these first five Kingdom Mindsets I can’t even go into all of it here in this blog post. So, here’s what I’d recommend…head on over to Episode 10 of The Gifted Entrepreneur Show podcast and listen to the full episode where I go much deeper into these first five mindsets.
