Secrets to Discover Your Gifted Place in Business – PART ONE

Bringing Your Business Out of Pressure into Purpose

One of the most frustrating things as a business owner is not truly understanding your gifted place in business. That’s the place where you shine the brightest and where you make the biggest impact. Maybe you’ve looked at other entrepreneurs who are killing it in the marketplace and wonder how they are doing it and thought, “How can I step into my gifted place and make the highest level of impact?”

Listen, the Bible tells us our gifts make room for us and bring us before great men. But, when you don’t know who those men are or what rooms your gifts shine the brightest in, you’ll find yourself in cycles of trying to people-please, perform, and do things that really are not a unique representation of who you are called to be.

Finding your gifted place in business is such a passion for me because in the beginning stages of building my business, I was building a business from pressure.

I didn’t know that I was building a business from pressure! I thought I was building a business from purpose until I realized I was in a place of complete burnout. I thought that I was doing all the right things.

I was doing everything that is prescribed for great business leaders to do except for FULLY relying on God.

Many entrepreneurs have found themselves in that place – a place of pressure. When you’re in a place of pressure, it cuts off your creativity. It also cuts off that flow from being really connected with God and flowing from God. For me, the word FLOW is an acronym that stands for Following the Leading Of Wisdom.

Think about the story of Mary and Martha from the book of Luke in the Bible. In that particular scripture, we find ourselves with two women who both love God with all their heart, but one {Mary} chose to sit at Jesus’ feet while the other {Martha} was distracted doing all the things she thought was pleasing to God. Out of frustration {pressure}, Martha asked Jesus, “Why aren’t you telling Mary to get in here and help me?”

  • She chose to sit at the feet of Jesus.
  • She is gleaning from God.
  • She’s sitting with Father God.
  • She’s understanding how to be a daughter.

So many times in business we forget to be daughters, and we find ourselves in the hustle and bustle of trying to work, and chase the bag, and secure the bag, and do all the things that we hear the world tells us to do. Our intentions are pure, which I feel that Martha’s intentions were really pure – she wanted to serve God, but God wanted her to sit with him and be in FLOW from her just being in him, not from everything she was doing.

How many times do we forget to be in him and allow our being to be an expression of our doing?

He is the vine! When we find nourishment in him and flow from him – that is truly Following the Leading Of Wisdom (FLOW). The Bible tells us to guard our hearts. That is to guard our heart against all the distractions and all the things that take us away from being in the presence of God. We need to make the presence of God our priority in our life and in our business.

Why am I telling you this?

Many times we find ourselves in that place where we are hustling and bustling looking for the next…

  • certification,
  • college degree,
  • coaching program that we can invest in.

It’s like our hand is reaching outwards for all the things that we feel are going to help us to create that generational wealth, to create that success, and to create that fulfillment and significance that we’re looking for. What we find is that those things put us in a position of pressure and it takes us out of sitting at the feet of Jesus and being present with Father God. It’s like we are performing to fill a void or we’re performing to try to please God. That’s when we find ourselves working for God in pressure instead of working from God. Working from God is us flowing from him (Following the Leading Of Wisdom) knowing that wisdom starts and ends with him.

When we’re sitting in his presence and we’re taking time to ask:

  • What does he want us to do?
  • How did he uniquely create us to do it?
  • Where is he operating right now in this time and this season?
  • Where does he want us to till the ground in those places according to our gift zone?

I want to bring us back into abiding in him, flowing from him, and moving out of pressure because that’s when we are the most fruitful. In the Bible it says that…

How many of you have found yourself in this place?

Listen, if you have found yourself in this place, this is your opportunity to just simply turn away from the distractions of the world that is separating you from the love and peace of God and to reunite with what it means to be a son or a daughter, and get grounded in his presence. It’s time to get back to a place where you’re fully flowing from him and you are allowing him to work in and through you as you are being filled up with everything that you need to produce good fruit according to the will of God.

How does that feel? I hope that that feels good to you.

I can tell you from my personal experience, every time I find myself getting in that place of pressure, I have to make a quick shift because I have not arrived. It’s a continual process as I am growing from level to level, from season to season, and from levels of maturation. The same is true for all of us. Once we get to the place where we know and understand that we should be flowing from God instead of being in a place of hustle and pressure, that’s when we produce the greatest fruit.

What I would challenge you to do is, from this day forward, just check your intentions and check where you are coming from.

Are you coming where you’re flowing from God?

You’ll know that you’re flowing from God when it’s coming from a place of peace and the burden you’re carrying begins to feel light. Though there may be many things you are dealing with, that burden won’t feel like a pressure that’s weighing you down or causing you to feel constrained, restricted, anxious or like the weight of the world is on your shoulders.

That’s not God’s design for you, or for me. He died….He bore the weight of the world and died for you and I to be liberated from that type of pressure. There’s a second option which you can flow from and have peace in order to get out of the place of pressure.

You will know when you’re in a place of pressure because that’s when you’re hustling, you’re in a place of anxiety, and you feel like you’re spinning your wheels trying to get to the next thing and you’re out of breath at the end of the day; maybe there’s discord in your marriage and there’s never any satisfaction. There is more available for you!

God wants the best for you!

So, instead of operating from pressure, remember that there is more available to you. It flows from being in the presence of the one true King who makes all things possible when you partner with him and tap into your purpose.
